Oscar De La Hoya goes off on one and rips into the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor event on it’s eve of taking place.
Legendary boxer turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya has unleashed on Twitter on this weekend’s Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor event in Las Vegas.
De La Hoya has been vocal in recent months since the fight was confirmed about his view that the fight is bad for the sport of boxing.
Those sentiments followed De La Hoya initially suggesting that if McGregor was looking for an opponent in boxing that his fighter Canelo Alvarez would much oblige.
That was before the McGregor vs Mayweather getting signed, of course. He’s saved his most expletive attack on the event however for Twitter on it’s eve:
No holding back there, Oscar.
De La Hoya has a promotion taking place tomorrow night too headlined by the great Miguel Cotto at the Stub Hub Center in California.
No doubt he’s seen a drop off in the interest in the event due to the sheer scale of the Mayweather-McGregor frenzy that has swept the world this week.
He also has another major event coming up in a few weeks on September 16th between the two best middleweights in the world – Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.
