Malignaggi Opens Up About McGregor Confrontation In Dressing Room

Ex-Conor McGregor sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi speaks for the first time about a McGregor confrontation that lead to him quitting camp.

Paulie Malignaggi has been vocal about Conor McGregor (to put it mildly) since quitting his training camp ahead of his fight with Floyd Mayweather later this month.

He’s come out swinging verbally from every angle but it has now emerged from the American the real root cause behind what angered him to the point of why he walked out of the training camp.

Pictures were taken by team McGregor according to Malignaggi that he insisted to the Irishman when they were alone – not to leak on social media again.

Despite this, they did according to Malignaggi, who detailed what he said to Conor McGregor one to one in the dressing room after their second sparring session.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting Malignaggi said:

“I had this conversation with Conor after the second sparring in the dressing room and this is probably where I realized what a di****** this guy is. Because at that moment you just did 12 hard rounds and there’s that respect that I’m feeling at least. He looks at me and I expected a like ‘alright Paulie you got it, you’re right man lets just keep this good work going.”

He added:

“Instead, he just looks at me and gives me this smirk smile laughs at me and starts walking away from me and he puts his hands up in the air and he gives me his back like he’s walking away towards the shower  and then he’s like ‘Haha I don’t know Paulie we got some good ones (photos) those last two rounds. I don’t know about that.'”

He concluded:

“At this point Ariel I’m waiting for Ashton Kutcher to walk into the dressing room and say I got punk’ed, because I thought it was like a joke and no way is this guy this much of an a******. Or, I expect Conor to run around and be like ‘I’m just kidding man you got it, lets get this hard work and finish this camp strong.’ The last thing I was expecting was this guy to keep going off into the sunset and towards the shower and not say anything, and that’s what he did. That’s what he did. I was just thinking what a jerk off.'”
