IBF To Order Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev Fight

Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev

The International Boxing Federation are set to order a fight between Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev it has been reported.

Mandatory obligations are already coming thick and fast for Anthony Joshua since his massive win over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley stadium.

Calls for unification fights with the likes of Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder as well as a fight with Tyson Fury are been speculated by fans at the moment.

However it looks like they could have to wait for another while yet.

The IBF (International Boxing Federation) have ordered Joshua to face his mandatory contender with the organization – Kubrat Pulev from Bulgaria next up.

Before the fight with Klitschko Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn did note that something like this could happen and mentioned it could be difficult for Joshua to hold onto all the belts as a consequence.

Typically the IBF are quite strict when it comes to their mandatory orders, so if Joshua doesn’t face Pulev next he could be stripped of their belt.

The only situation typically where a mandatory can be waved temporarily is if a unification fight with another title holder occurs.

Pulev last fought back in April when he defeated Kevin Johnson via unanimous decision. The 36 year old holds a professional record of 25-1-13KO.
