Shannon Briggs WBA Heavyweight Title Shot Now A Confirmed Reality

The Shannon Briggs WBA heavyweight title (regular) shot was thought to be on the ropes – but not anymore. The term ‘Lets Go Champ’ springs to mind.

The term coined by Briggs (now a registered trademark of his) became a widespread one in the boxing world internationally in 2016.

The 45 year old former heavyweight champion banged the drum left, right and centre until he got what he wanted.

Now he’s done it.

Despite many saying he couldn’t. Despite many laughing him off. An older fighter with no major promotional backing or TV deal has willed his way to a shot a version of the heavyweight title in 2017.

When Shannon Briggs takes on Puerto Rican Fres Oquendo for the vacant WBA World heavyweight title June 3rd in Florida, it will mark a remarkable comeback in life for Briggs.

A man who was down and out after suffering a vicious beating at the hands of former champion Vitali Klitschko in 2010. A beat down that left him in a bad state.

He battled depression and severe weight problems after but came back to the sport in 2014. Since then, he is currently on the crest of 10 fight win streak (9 inside the distance) since.

Big hitting Shannon Briggs (60-6-1-53KO) can show on June 3rd that it’s never too late for someone to turn their life around.

No matter how old or what stage of their live one is at. The ‘Lets Go Champ’ movement is on the brink of reality this summer with the Shannon Briggs WBA title shot now confirmed.
