Deontay Wilder on Tyson Fury: He Really Is A Good Dude
WBC Heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder has come to the defence of one of his fiercest rivals amid a turbulent time for lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Fury has been going through the most difficult time of his life as of late through various mental health issues and substance issues and with today being world mental health day, it was apt that this story came to the forefront in more ways than one.
Boxing is one of those sports where rivalries are intense in probably one of the toughest businesses of them all. The hurt business, the fight game, call it what you will – boxing is a tough business.
But away from the rivalries and the seemingly deep bitterness that often runs throughout personalities in the sport, there’s also a real sense of community in the boxing world across the different continents on our planet.
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder when speaking to TMZ said he would even fly to the UK to offer help and advice to one of his most fierce rivals in Tyson Fury during this difficult patch he is going through.
Deontay Wilder on Tyson Fury:
Other prominent figures in American boxing have come out in support of Fury in recent days including Oscar De La Hoya – who is backing Fury to beat his substance issues.
It is understood that Fury is due to check himself into treatment for his problems very soon while he is set to take an extended break from the sport until he recovers.
In the meantime during his absence, the likes of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua look set to garner further traction to their already growing stars within the sport.
A fight between the American and the Englishman would not be out of the question in 2017.
No doubt when Fury does return, that a fight with one or both of the pair at some stage will be on his agenda when he is back in the ring doing what he does best.
