Joseph Parker vs Alexander Dimitrenko – Boxing Results and Winner

The Joseph Parker vs Alexander Dimitrenko fight took place for the WBO Oriental heavyweight title today at the Vodafone Events Centre, Manukau City in New Zealand.

Coming into the fight undefeated heavyweight contender Parker (21-0-18KO) knew that a win was absolutely vital, as he is currently mandatory contender to Britain’s IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Parker performed accordingly with an impressive third round stoppage victory to set up a potential showdown with the Britain in November, provided a fight with Wladimir Klitschko doesn’t happen for Joshua instead of course.

Russian Alexander Dimitrenko came into the fight with one of the longest reaches in the division but that wasn’t to be enough to deal with 24 year old Parker, who put the Russian down in the very first round after some quality body work.

The blistering hand speed of Parker was too much for Dimitrenko in the second round, who was hurt by some big right hands by Parker and put down again, twice in round two. The Russian managed to survive the round.

Parker was setting up the big right hand behind a quick jab that his Russian counterpart just couldn’t deal with. Parker’s straight right hand seemed like it couldn’t miss in round two.

Dimitrenko complained about punches behind the back of the head in the round, but in truth, the bombardment of Parker’s blows were too much to deal with.

Parker closed the show in the third round with a knockout blow that Dimitrenko chose to stay down from, amid some boos from the crowd that were not quite sure what they were seeing.

Regardless, Joseph Parker won by technical knockout in an impressive performance on the night and set up a potentially massive showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Parker’s speed, timing and power looked on point tonight and showed marked improvement from his previous bout.
