Lloyd Ellett Switches Camps

‘Lightning Bolt’ Lloyd Ellett has switched training camps from the iBox Gym in Bromley to manager Scott Welch’s gym in his hometown of Brighton in preparation for an April 1st fight date.

Ellett (19-1) fights next on April 1st in Tolworth on a Hunt Promotions show as he plans an assault on titles later this year. The ‘Lightning Bolt’ said:

“I’m fighting shortly on April 1st in Tolworth so I’ve been staying in shape and I’m ready to go already. I’m hoping to get a couple of good wins in and then push on to titles.”

Ellett, who picked up three Masters titles whilst under the iBox Gym banner, explained his decision to call time on the South London gymnasium:

“I’ve now left the iBox Gym in Bromley after two-and-a-half years there. I had decided after the last fight in mid-February that it was time for me to move on, I had begun to go a bit stale and we parted on the best of terms. I wasn’t overly happy with my performance in my last fight, I was motivated but I didn’t really go through the gears and it’s felt like that for a while now.”

In his previous bout on February 12th, Ellett moved up 19-1 with a shut-out points win over Slovakian opponent, Andrej Moravek (2-5-1) over six three-minute rounds at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton.

The 28-year-old Sussex boxer used to captain the Brighton and Hove boxing club run by former World heavyweight title contender Scott Welch, where he is now based since making the switch.

Welch, a former British and Commonwealth champion, has managed Ellett since the start of his pro career and their long and lasting relationship in the sport extends back to his early amateur days. Ellett said:

“I got myself straight down to my manager Scott Welch’s gym in Brighton to hit the ground running. Scott has got accommodation over the road from the gym for me to stay in which is perfect as I can train three times a day now, so it’s much better. I feel rejuvenated since the move, I’m like a different fighter already. I’ve sparred with Chris Eubank Jr. already and there’s plenty of good sparring available to me with Marcus Eaton and Nicky Jenman both in the gym.”
