The middleweight bonanza next month is really starting to gather steam from a promotion point of view at the minute, with fans turning their attention to the fight as the big next showdown in the States.
It’s split opinion in many quarters, as it will be Canelo’s first big fight at middleweight and Cotto has experienced a new lease of life at the weight since hooking up with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.
Of course, there’s also the factor and arguement that Canelo will enjoy a big youth advantage while also still being the bigger man, and potentially the much fresher of the two, which potentially could prove the difference on the night.
This is a viewpoint that respected trainer Jeff Mayweather shares. Speaking in an interview with Tstreet Controversy Mayweather commented:
“Canelo to win because he’s the better fighter, he’s a better boxer than Cotto, he’s younger, he’s fresher and he’s actually the bigger guy”.
