Tonight ‘Chocolatito’ will appear on the grand stage and receive the recognition he deserves.

Some things in general but fighters especially, should not be underestimated because of their size.
Roman Gonzalez is a testimony to the fact, boxing’s answer to Thomas Bergers if you will. The little big man has plotted and navigated a course silently underneath the boxing radar of the bigger, and more fashionable fighters and weight classes, to scale the mythical heights and is now siting proudly on top the pound for pound list with The Ring.
I tip my hat in this regard, a fine choice (in my opinion). The current WBC Flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez, with a record of 43-0 37KO, is arguably one of the best fighter on the planet and at only 28, the Nicaraguan ‘Chocolatito’ can further demonstrate the claim when he takes on a quality challenger, the tough durable and experienced Brian Viloria tonight in Madison Square Garden.
It will be the co-feature to GGG vs Lemieux in New York tonight. The little big man is already a 3 weight world champion, with titles at minimum weight (straw-weight) and light flyweight, and is currently the WBC Flyweight champion.
It’s possible he could in future capture titles in higher weight divisions too, just like a certain boxing legend Manny Pacquiao once did.
Add to that, an undefeated record in 43 fights and still only 27 years young, time is on his side. Just let that last sentence sink in for a minute.
This just serves to further illustrate what a special talent this pocket sized dynamo really is.
For example, at 27 (back in 2004) Floyd Mayweather had a professional boxing record of 33-0, was ranked number two in The Ring pound for pound list (which is open to interpretation of course) behind Bernard Hopkins, and was also a two-weight world champion.
Fast forward to 2015, Gonzalez has everything going for him.
A sublimely talented fighter with excellent defence, great footwork and a top notch boxing IQ that he employs with an equally savage offensive brilliance, that few if any in boxing, can currently match.
The only things lacking are name recognition and profile awareness outside of boxing’s hardcore fans, so what better platform to showcase his special talents on tonight, than via a highly anticipated pay per view card at MSG.
Roman Gonzalez may have been boxing’s best kept secret before, but not for much longer.
