The 2017 fight of the year has quiet a few contenders this year in boxing, such as the spoilt choice fight fans have been privy to this year.
Here are the list of nominees for our 2017 fight of the year award at Boxing News and Views. Voting will be open until December 29th with a winner announced on December 30th.

Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko
The classic passing down of the torch as a packed out Wembley Stadium were treated to the sort of topsy-turvy heavyweight fight that was would have been fit for the divisions greatest years.
Both fighters hit the canvas, and the final result was still in doubt before an 11th round barrage from AJ retired the great Klitschko.
Conor Benn vs Cedric Peynaud
Benn ended the year in a fashion befitting his father, as he rose from the canvas twice in the opening round, before rallying back to score a pair of knockdowns of his own.
The referee’s 57-54 scorecard was harsh on the visitor, but the York Hall was at its buoyant best in a 6-round thriller.

Gennady Golovkin vs Daniel Jacobs
It was so nearly the perfect way to crown one of sport’s finest comebacks. Cancer survivor Jacobs rose from the canvas to finally make GGG seem human, taking him the 12-rounds and coming so close to taking the decision.
Golovkin was arguably stretched more in this March fight than he was by Canelo Alvarez in their september superfight.

It was without doubt billed as the fight of the year. Two of boxing’s biggest superstars met and fought to a disputed draw.
One horrendous scorecard couldn’t take the shine from what was a thoroughly enjoyable and tactically absorbing encounter.
Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz 2
It may not have been as thrilling as the first meeting, but Santa Cruz’s tactical switch was boxing versatility at it’s best.
Known as a fighter, Santa Cruz flipped the script and boxed his way to a points win. The fight itself had fans of both the artistry of boxing and the blood and guts of boxing applauding at the fights conclusion.
Miguel Berchelt vs Francisco Vargas
Both these fighters have and will be in many fight of the year candidates, and this was no different as Berchelt boxed to perfection in a thrilling all-mexican battle.
The late stoppage added to what was a tremendous world title fight in boxing’s hottest division.
Luis Collazo vs Sammy Vazquez
Collazo and Vazquez went to war in a short-lived thriller, with the veteran upsetting the odds with a right cross that earns a place as knockout of the year.
Collazo fought mostly on the backfoot, but countered excellently as Vazquez swung wildly on the inside. It only lasted until the 5th, but that was plenty for all to enjoy.
