George Groves vs Jamie Cox Breakdown and Prediction

George Groves vs Jamie Cox

A look ahead to the George Groves vs Jamie Cox showdown in the 168lbs division that takes place in the World Boxing Super Series.

Date and Location: October 14th, 2017. Wembley Arena, London, United Kingdom

Fighter records: George Groves (26-3 19KO) vs. Jamie Cox (24-0 13KO)

Most likely the least competitive bout of either tournament involves George Groves, the super middleweight tournament’s overall favorite, and undefeated fringe contender Jaime Cox.

Cox simply will be of no match for the acumen of “Saint George”, the tournament’s only super middleweight champion.

While not known as a knockout artist, Groves should have his way until the final bell, or simply Cox’s corner will have had enough of it, and throw in the towel.

Groves has every conceivable advantage, in age, experience, ability and natural size as a big super-middleweight.

Unless Cox can pull a rabbit out of his hat, or some other magic trick he can use to hit Groves.

While Cox is undefeated, there isn’t much of anything to speak of on his resume that would suggest he could take on any other fighter in the WBSS tournament.

24 fights of mainly British level talent, his team probably should have kept him out of it but as a fighter he has to be applauded for stepping up and taking on the challenge.

Groves on the other hand seems to be getting better and better with every bout, and not even 30 yet, only losing a split decision to the highly skilled and newly-crowned light heavyweight champ Badou Jack, and two other losses to future hall of famer Carl Froch.

George Groves vs Jamie Cox Prediction: Groves, TKO victory, Round 11.
