Speaking today at a press conference Secretary of the US Department of Defense Austin made a good point on hyper sonic missiles.
First on development for the US but more importantly, pointing out they may slightly be overrated as a weapon as Russia have used them in Ukraine and have achieved little:
On hyper sonic missiles:
“They are potentially destabilizing (that type of weapon). The issue is the development of an effective mechanism. Having said that, the Russians have used hyper sonic technology in Ukraine many times and it hasn’t guaranteed victory. As a matter of fact the Ukrainians are in a very good position right now.”
Not only that, but they cost a fortune too.
Russia have wasted a fortune using them, moreover.
