This week we had a chance during the war to speak in an exclusive interview with a member of the Ukrainian transport department in the Ukraine Defense Ministry.
Currently involved in the logistics side of defending the nation against Russia in Europe.
We wanted to get an insight into his perspective on the current State of the war- as the winter sets in.
Starting off the chat Boxing News and Views asked the transport department worker what was most important thing now for Ukraine – to which he replied:
‘Support of the world is very important. We need weapons. Ukraine need rockets with 300 km range (for the ground to ground). Also tanks and aviation. With Jets F16s maybe – as the US planned to sell I think 20 of them before the war to us but when the war started they just cancelled this order and now we try to reopen talks.’
Any other weapons?
‘Anti-air missiles (ground to air). Drone – hog – most powerful American drone. America were concerned (needlessly) that Russia will hit that type of drone to steal the tech from it at one point.’
As our chat went on – he did stress that sentiment in Ukraine has now totally changed.
Most not believing diplomacy does anything with Russia:
‘Opinion in Ukraine changed during the war from diplomacy at the start – to now the majority of Ukrainians think force is the only way to end war for military victory – to force political change in the Russian administration.’
On prior to the invasion he said:
‘It wasn’t a surprise the invasion happened but it was a surprise they attacked from all sides.’
He mentioned that NATO taking out Russia’s allies in Belarus is probably the best way to end the war:
‘In 2020 in Belarus there was a big attempt at revolution but Putin sent people there to stop any revolution.’
If Belarus attack Ukraine, do you believe NATO should attack Belarus?
‘It is probably the best way to end the war.’
‘NATO can also close Ukrainian skies.’
