Heavyweight Champion and Canelo May Fight Before Careers Are Over

Heavyweight champion and Canelo may fight before careers over

Ah yes, the pound for pound best fighter in the world Canelo Alvarez goes back to work this weekend in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas.

Enough to re-energize any boxing fan’s enthusiasm, surely.

After a huge weekend last weekend with Katie Taylor and Shakur Stevenson electrifying the sports world, this weekend is even bigger.

Much bigger in fact.

Alvarez takes on Dmitrii Bivol in a big fight in all ways but even more significant may be ahead for Alvarez down the road.

Surprisingly, heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk said he’d be willing to drop back down in weight to take on Alvarez some day:

For those of us fight fans of a certain vintage, you may remember fighters like Roy Jones Jr. years ago stepping up to heavyweight.

Going from middleweight to heavyweight to capture the title and become only two men in history to do so.

Alvarez has spoken about attempting such a feat previously.

Maybe Usyk is the man who may allow him to try such a lofty goal down the road.

First thing is first though.

Bivol this weekend will be a challenging no gimmie and exciting match up at 175 lbs.

Roll on.
