Son Of Boxing Legend Reacts To Knockout and Going 19-0

Australian super-welterweight Tim Tszyu’s career crossed over from domestic in his home country this week to international.

The son of a boxing legend, with father Kostya Tszyu, is now well and truly standing on his own two feet and making his own way in boxing.

Following a convincing win over Steve Spark via body shot knockout, now is the time he needs to be stepped up with nineteen wins in a row as a professional.

Talks suggest the likes of Danny Garcia, Tony Harrison or Liam Smith could be next.

Possibly with the fight later in the year taking place in Australia subject to the world travel situation.

All of the above would be strong tests and no easy fights.

That will show how good he is at this point.

Speaking after the fight to members of the press he said:

“He’s got a bit of power. I was going to walk through him. You’ve got to be able to take it as well. I have not watched it yet. The first one, it went completely under the liver. As soon as I threw it I hurt him.”

He added:

“He was dangerous at first. But I knew I had to slow him down and the only way to slow him down was be in his chest. In his face.”

He concluded:

“He was awkward at first. But that’s boxing. It was supposed to be ten rounds but got it done in three. So it wasn’t too bad.”

A big fight building down the line could of course also be with super-welterweight champion Jermell Charlo of Texas.

Charlo returns to action next week against Brian Carlos Castano in San Antonio and no doubt will have been keeping an eye on Tszyu’s progress.
