Gervonta Davis Mother Brutally Honest Ahead Of Latest Fight

A certain storyline ahead of this weekend’s big fight in Atlanta involving pound for pound star and knockout artist Gervonta Davis has gone a bit under the radar.

It is well known that Davis came from a difficult traumatic background in Baltimore.

His understandable anger, aggressiveness and hard hitting fists came from somewhere at the end of the day.

But since working with Mayweather and his team, and having a daughter, after a difficult time in life, Davis appears to be finally lightening up in life and is just focused on himself and his own family now.

Speaking on Showtime All Access ahead of this weekend’s fight his mother was very candid saying:

“At that time I was struggling with drugs. There was a bad shooting around my way. The police came. My oldest son opened the door. They realized they were in there by themselves. That’s how they ended up in foster care.”

She added:

“When I seen that he was doing what he was doing, he motivated me to better my life. To better myself. He helped me. That little boy (Gervonta) helped me.”

Davis concluded on the subject:

“Now it’s about me building my own family.”

Davis takes on Mario Barrios this weekend in Atlanta up at 140 lbs. in an attempt to become champion at super-lightweight.

No forgone conclusion mind you and one that would make him a three-weight world champion.
