The young world champion from Las Vegas defeated quality former world champion Jorge Linares on points by unanimous decision in the end.
Former pound for pound number one boxer Andre Ward made a good point afterwards:
Certainly a very good learning fight for Haney as part of his progress.
A fight with Teofimo Lopez no doubt would be a cracker to watch and something boxing fans would welcome.
