Nonito Donaire Immediate Reaction To History Making Win

At 38 years of age Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire became the oldest bantamweight world champion in history tonight with a vintage knockout win.

Combinations and speed still there even at his advanced stage in his career.

The reality is boxers are fighting on longer now due to the advancements in training and sports nutrition.

Expect to see more of these records broken in the years ahead.

Speaking on his WBC bantamweight championship win after the fight Donaire told a group of reporters:

“No disrespect to him. He was a great fighter. I just knew exactly what his pattern was because we studied really it well. We were able to land at those distances. That was the biggest key. Just being able to land at that (right) distance.”

Distance always important and Donaire got it spot on tonight.
