Early on Ruiz had to adjust to his work-in-progress weight loss transformation tonight.
Lineal champion Tyson Fury had to do something similar many boxing fans will recall.
When he came back against Deontay Wilder in their first fight.
Ruiz for his part needed to survive an early shock.

Not to be deterred however.
He came back fighting as expected.
He kept the head and got back into the fight after that.
Winning many of the next rounds largely. Heck of a fight.
Eventually the fight went to the scorecards.
Andy Ruiz was awarded a unanimous decision tonight in LA.
Potential fights next up could include Luiz Ortiz or Deontay Wilder later in the year.
Neither would be easy.
