Billy Joe Saunders Angry At Canelo Alvarez Ahead Of Texas Super Fight

Not long to go until next month when boxing’s biggest star Canelo Alvarez returns to the ring just a few short months after his first fight in 2021.

A straightforward win over a mandatory contender from Turkey saw Alvarez now move on to a long awaited fight with Billy Joe Saunders next month.

Saunders has been training at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas ahead of the fight and perhaps, from a purely boxing point of view, represents the toughest fight for Alvarez since Danny Jacobs.

Saunders is an accomplished boxer when on form and sharp.

Fights against the likes of David Lemieux and Andy Lee in his career testament to this.

He will need to be even more switched on for Alvarez but an excellent fight could be in store, all in all.

Ahead of the fight he wasn’t happy about a number of things recently however.

Speaking to IFL TV YouTube (hat tip) from around the six minutes mark in, he vents his anger at Canelo already looking past him:

The fight takes place on May 8th in Texas at the huge AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

What the Texans have done for boxing over the last year has been magnificent really, and hugely appreciated.

Top notch boxing events in the State will ensure boxing will continue to grow in Texas for years to come.

Let’s just hope no controversy with judging occurs and that whoever wins, it is a fair fight and lives up to the hype.

This is a real throwback fight in the middleweight division, potentially.

Roll on.
