Watch: Dillian Whyte Knocks Out Povetkin Faster Than Joshua

Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte showed once again what he is all about.

A proficient man of combat who has been well versed in various disciplines of unarmed combat in his lifetime.

As a professional heavyweight boxer, last night he put on one of his best displays to date.

A fourth-round knockout over highly rated Russian Alexander Povetkin.

A man who had trained ferociously for his rematch having won by knockout the first time they fought last year.

It was Whyte’s turn to deliver the knockout this time, however.

Whyte’s use of his jab was excellent in spots and more aware of what was coming back with the right hand guard kept high after throwing his combinations and stepping out of the pocket.

Povetkin did attain some small success early but after that — it was all Whyte who closed the show in round four:

Three rounds earlier than the only other man to ever knock out Povetkin, Anthony Joshua, who stopped him in round seven.

Povetkin was only ever beaten otherwise as a professional on points by Wladimir Klitschko.

Putting this win for Whyte into context, moreover.

If one respectful observation for balance could be made for Whyte as a heavyweight boxer in the remaining big fights of his career, is that, perhaps he can still work on balance and lower body center of gravity/leg strength. Along with footwork.

If those things can be ironed out and improved, even a little bit, Whyte will be a problem for any of the champions.

Fair play on the comeback win tonight.
