It has been confirmed that Canelo Alvarez will next face Billy Joe Saunders on May 8th live on DAZN.
This announcement followed Alvarez beating his mandatory challenger this weekend in a straight forward win for boxing’s biggest name.
Many of whom consider also the pound for pound best (at this time) in the sport.
That is always subject to change and a mythical list however.
Following the bout and news Saunders reacted by saying on Twitter:
About time this damn fight was bloody made.
Get on with now you bloody goons and don’t screw up the promotion like tonight’s fight again dummies.
Little buzz and interest outside of the boxing demographic existed going into Alvarez’ bout this weekend.
That said, Saunders is a much more interesting fight and an accomplished boxer who has a style capable of causing problems for Alvarez.
Always thought Saunders had a good style to challenge Alvarez if he comes fully prepared for the fight.
Alvarez has said he will box at least three times this year all in all.
Lots of interesting fights to be made.
Considering the ongoing world situation where fights are falling out all the time and dates changed, this would be good if achieved.
Nothing is a given in this regard, however.
We’re only promised today.
May 8th not too far away short-term however for his next fight as it stands.
