Former world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi and one time pro boxer, and UFC champion Conor McGregor, are no strangers to one another.

In the run up to the world renowned Mayweather vs McGregor event a few years back the two were sparring partners.

McGregor drafted the former champion into his fight camp to help in preparations for Mayweather.

The two shared a now infamous sparring video and since have been less than pleasant to one another in the media.

Following McGregor’s knockout defeat this weekend in the UFC Malignaggi has wasted little time in expressing his sentiments:

These days Malignaggi is retired from boxing but has dabbled in bare knuckle boxing as well as still being a respected commentator in the sport of boxing.

It was mentioned at one time that he and McGregor could have a boxing match in the future.

Perhaps after this weekend Malignaggi will have even more interest in stoking the flames for such a venture once again.

Here is what happened when they sparred a few years back:

Malignaggi has maintained that team McGregor did not release the full footage.

And that, he had the better of McGregor at some points in the pair’s spars.
