3 Things About Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr You Should Know

In less than two weeks, we are going to see one of boxing’s favorite warriors make a comeback.

Mike Tyson looks ready to take down Roy Jones Jr., as the 54-year old will fight in an exhibition match on November 28th at the Staples Center in California.

It will be the first time that “Iron Mike” has returned to the ring since he lost his sixth match in a row in 2005.

The world was robbed of this event earlier in the fall due to the world health situation, which led to the postponement to the end of November.

Either way, this has been a highly anticipated sporting event for 2020.

With that said, there are three key details to remember before you watch this fight.

Mike Tyson Is Favored

At one point, Tyson was not favored for this fight.

Things have changed though closer to the bout.

The early betting saw Jones open as the -135 favorite, while Tyson was the -105 underdog.

However, that flipped quickly.

Tyson looks like he could secure some UFC betting nods in a heavyweight fight, so it’s not surprising that the tides changed.

Tyson is now the -175 favorite, while Jones is the +145 underdog.

The pair are going to fight eight two-minute rounds.

Mike Tyson Looks In Monster Shape

It has been a well-chronicled story that Tyson is in the best shape of his life.

In some of the most recent pictures published on social media, Tyson looks like the former young heavyweight champion despite being halfway into his 50s.

Tyson has posted videos of his training regimen throughout the time we have waited, including during his time in quarantine.

He is ready to fight and put it all on the line.

In the last two years, Tyson has switched to a vegan lifestyle (for the most part), which has contributed to him wittingly down to 230 pounds.

He could be even lighter than this on fight night mind you.

To some, he looks like a healthier fighter than most current heavyweight fighters.

For a guy that is past his prime, Tyson has done everything he can possibly do to get close to what he once was using a lot of modern science, discipline, dedication and hard work.

Roy Jones Has Put In Work Too, Don’t Write Him Off

While all the hype has surrounded Tyson, don’t forget that the 51-year old Jones has put in plenty of work as well.

“Ya’ll Must Have Forgot” will also make his comeback and he also looked in excellent condition for the contest.

In a video posted to WORLDSTARHIPHOP on YouTube, Jones talked about how his trainer has been trying to “kill him.”

Jones does look fit and ready to go in this comeback fight as well.

Despite being older, Jones still sees Tyson has one of the hardest punchers the sport has ever seen.

To his credit, he has trained like this is going to be an elite boxing match.

Then again, most 50-years old’s might consider this an elite match because nobody their age is going to want to step anywhere close to this ring at that age.

One of the major questions going into the fight was the fighter’s fitness. From what it looks like, there should be zero doubts by all parties involved.

From what it looks like there should be zero doubts by all parties involved in fairness.
