While athletes change from generation to generation the sport of boxing is one of the few, as a sport, that doesn’t change much.
Sure, modern training advancements and nutrition expertise means fighters are bigger, stronger and faster than what they were in the past.
That’s just a fact of life.
But it doesn’t mean that they are better fighters at the end of the day.
You can’t put muscles on your chin, or put a fighter’s heart into someone.
These things coupled with the steadfast traditions in the sport of sparring, road work, pad work and heavy bag work make boxing one of the most old school sports out there.
Even in today’s challenging times for the world.
Rocky Marciano is still widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweights that ever lived.
Standing at just 5′ 10½ would have probably had him closer to a super-middleweight or light-heavyweight today mind you.
