Tensions Spill Over Between Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya

Rising boxing star Ryan Garcia and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya appear to be at odds over his next fight.

Due to the break boxing has had to take in recent months it appears fight purses are not what they once were for some of boxing’s big names.

No fans allowed in attendance at events for the foreseeable future means that boxing like most businesses and people will take a financial hit this year.

The tensions between undefeated Garcia and De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions company appear to stem from a disagreement over what was meant to be his next fight on July 4th.

That has now been shelved.

His next fight date and opponent is once again up for debate.

De La Hoya blamed Garcia for not taking the fight while Garcia branded his promoter a ‘hater’:

A strange time for the sport of boxing.

Indeed, as it has been for the world this year so far.

Garcia had previously been tabbed to take on Jorge Linares next up but judging from the above when it happens is anyone’s guess now.

As for this website, I would hope some big fights will be available for us to cover in the coming months ahead as some bit of boxing action returns.

Alas, to wrap up a tough time during this Italian nightmare being stuck here for months on end now without a passport during the pandemic.
