Mayweather vs Crawford Speculation Responded To By Mayweather Promotions CEO

Sometimes boxing can surprise you with fight talk, rumors and speculation that really comes out of left field.

Former pound for pound number one Floyd Mayweather has been retired for a while now and aside from exhibition talk — there doesn’t be appear any chance he’ll return to a pro boxing ring.

He’s been linked with a rematch with Manny Pacquiao in the new year but if that were to happen realistically it will be in the form of an exhibition.

One way or another, Mayweather appears to be planning some sort of combat endeavor before the end of 2020.

One that could also involve the UFC and Dana White.

With that being said, a fight against current welterweight champ and pound for pound rated Terence Crawford has some how being brought up in the media.

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe has addressed the rumors with Seconds Out YouTube (hat tip) here in a wide-ranging interview on all things Mayweather, Gervonta Davis and more:

When asked about Crawford above:

“Get out of here! That’s just silly!”

That about sums it up really.

Not a hope Floyd would take such a risk in a comeback fight and besides, respectfully, Crawford isn’t a big enough a name to justify any risk for the type of pay day Floyd would demand.

Don’t expect Floyd Mayweather back in a ring (professionally that is) anytime soon.

Exhibition maybe.

Professional boxing match?

No way.
