Watch: Magic Moment Between Deontay Wilder and Muhammad Ali’s Widow

Deontay Wilder showed himself as being one of the best fighters in the world last night and certainly the biggest puncher in boxing (possibly ever) with a stunning right hand knockout of Cuban boxing Maestro Luis Ortiz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

It was a rematch from their first fight that Wilder had to come through to set up his big rematch with Tyson Fury next February.

A fight that is set to be ginormous with both ESPN and Fox set to team up together in America to promote the fight.

Possibly the biggest fight in heavyweight boxing since Lennox Lewis took on Mike Tyson many a year ago.

Following his victory last night there was a truly special moment where the champion met the great Muhammad Ali’s widow after the fight.

Here is what happened as caught on camera by the folks at Fight Hype YouTube (hat tip):

As evidenced above, he also showed himself to be much more importantly than just being a heavyweight champion — also as a class act as a gentleman after the fight.

Excellent to see this kind of thing for the sport.

Overall, a huge night for boxing and indeed for American sports with the country now really able to say they have a true heavyweight champion.

Of course, Wilder will want to go much further and try to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in 2020.

What a year it promises to be for the sport of boxing.
