Watch: Canelo Alvarez Brutally Knocks Out Sergey Kovalev

Although boxing fans may have been made wait longer than they wanted tonight, in the end, they got their money’s worth.

Canelo Alvarez moved up to light-heavyweight to challenge WBO champion Sergey Kovalev tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The fight started off a bit indifferent, a bit underwhelming and scrappy and had a lot of rounds quite close in truth.

Boxing fans’ scorecards varied considerably as the fight progressed with Kovalev largely opting to stay behind his jab and Canelo being more the aggressor of the two.

As the fight drew on it looked like it was going to the score cards.

To step up to 175 lbs and do that to a former pound for pound rated champion was some statement.

One that likely will now see Canelo Alvarez ranked by many as one of the very best boxers in the world tonight.

Incredible stuff.

What a knockout.
