Boxing World React To Andy Ruiz vs Anthony Joshua Rematch News

The boxing world appears to be still coming to terms with one of the biggest upsets it has witnessed in sometime last weekend following the emergence of a new heavyweight champion in the form of Andy Ruiz Jr.

The Mexican-American captured the WBO, WBA and IBF crowns from previous UK-based champion Anthony Joshua in a stunning upset at Madison Square Garden.

Something no one saw coming.

Joshua’s trainer Robert McCracken, known for his cautious approach from a matchmaking perspective, has bucked the trend this time round however following news from promoter of Joshua Eddie Hearn today on Twitter:

Full credit for going straight back in for the part two.

Considering if the outcome were similar again.

It could really be devastating for Joshua if it were to go wrong a second time.

One remembers David Price from the UK also activating an immediate rematch clause years ago against one Tony Thompson.

Only to be stopped again by Thompson and shattering the likeable Liverpudlian’s confidence thereafter for the rest of his career.

That’s not to draw comparisons between Joshua and Price of course.

But more so to highlight the pitfalls that can arise from immediate rematches in boxing’s glamor division.

A weight class where one punch can derail everything in the blink of an eye.

The boxing world has been reacting in their droves so far to the above news from Hearn a short time ago.

Here’s some of the sentiment being expressed by fight folks at this time:
