Shannon Briggs Has A Theory On Who Anthony Joshua’s Opponent Will Be

Shannon ‘Lets Go Champ’ Briggs is back on the promotional campaign of late.

Appearing in many places in the media in recent weeks.

The former heavyweight champion appears still to be hell bent on landing one last decent size fight before retiring.

Whether or not it will come to fruition remains to be seen but his constant spreading of positivity and entertainment is admirable if nothing else.

In the last week or so the big story in boxing has surrounded the collapse of heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s next fight on June 1st.

Previously scheduled opponent Jarrell Miller was widely reported to have failed a total of three pre-fight drugs tests and as things stand Joshua is still left without an opponent.

Briggs reckons it could be the following fight on June 1st:

A less than flattering nickname for his home city of New York.

No doubt Briggs is not pleased that various commissions have been slow to provide him with a boxing license in recent times.

Particularly with the heavyweight division’s return to prominence in the last year or so and so much money in the division at the moment.

One would imagine someone with the social media following and personality of Briggs could easily sell a lot of tickets and generate interest if he was given one last big pay day.

Briggs hasn’t fought professionally since 2016 at this stage however and is now 47 years old.

His professional boxing record reads 60-6-1 (53KO).

As things stand he’s on a nine fight win streak since his last defeat which came back in 2010 at the hands of Vitali Klitschko.
