Hall of Fame boxing promoter Bob Arum and former pound for pound number one turned promoter Floyd Mayweather have a long history with one another.
Arum once promoted Mayweather as a fighter until he latter was unhappy with him to the point of buying himself out of his contract and becoming his own boss.
He went on to make more money than any professional boxing in the sport’s history.
The two are now rivals in the world of boxing promotion.
Aside from this, recently there was some talk about one of Arum’s star fighters Vasyl Lomachenko taking on Mikey Garcia (not promoted by Mayweather directly).
Talks appeared to break down in negotiations and Arum used the opportunity, although nothing to do with Floyd Mayweather, to blast what he perceives as a term that the latter made up entirely when it comes to the whole use of the word ‘A-Side’ and ‘B-Side’ in boxing negotiations.
The above essentially meaning one guy who has more bargaining power with the other fighter having less negotiating power hen negotiating how much two boxers get paid in a professional fight.
Speaking to Fight Hype Arum bullishly remarked:
“Well Mikey Garcia has hurt his marketability because of the fight he had with (Errol) Spence but he’s still an elite fighter so we would welcome a fight between him and Loma if it was at 135lbs. A-Side would be Lomachenko now. But who’s A-Side and B-Side is Mayweather’s schmuck talk! In other words, two fighters, they have gloves that weigh the same and the get in the ring and there’s no A-Side or B’Side. They go in the ring and they are equal.”
