Boxer Hits Back At Female Reporter Suing Him For Kiss

It has been a tumultuous week with this story regarding Bulgarian heavyweight boxer Kubrat Pulev who recently has come in for a lot of controversy following a kiss that took place after a post-fight interview with a female reporter.

In a pretty quiet time for boxing at the moment the story although having nothing to do with Pulev’s fight in the ring — has managed to capture headlines worldwide.

The allegations have been flying thick and fast but the boxer has now spoken in public for the first time regarding what transpired.

Pulev told the German newspaper Bild:

“This woman is not my type. I’m not afraid of the legal action. I have more videos if I have to use them.”

He added:

“I have not been at fault. In my career, I have given tens of thousands of interview and everyone knows me as a kind and polite man.

He went on to say:

“The woman came to me at the weigh-in and said, “After the fight we will have a party.””

One suspects that we have not heard the final twist in this story yet as things look set to get more nasty if Pulev does hold more videos like he says he does above.

The timing of this could not have come at any worst time for the boxer in his career either.

He’s very close to a possible fight with heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua as a mandatory contender if Joshua cannot face Wilder in a unification later this year.

Time will tell where this story goes next and what impact it will have on Pulev’s boxing career.

The California State Athletic Commission where his last bout took place have asked him to appear before a hearing following the kiss video.
