Pacquiao Strength Coach Names 3 Possible Opponents – Neither Are Mayweather

Senator and Filipino boxing icon Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao is currently working in his political day job as well as taking in some travelling recently but no doubt it won’t be long before he gets itchy knuckles once again for his next boxing match.

Last time out Pacquiao won a unanimous points decision over Adrien Broner in a very impressive display in Vegas last January.

Since then no one really knows if the Floyd Mayweather rematch will happen and some are speculating that even if it does it could be towards the end of the year.

If that were the case, Pacquiao will need a fight in the meantime anyway to keep busy — as will Mayweather.

If it is up to Pacquiao strength and conditioning trainer Justin Fortune he has three fighters in mind for Pacquiao next up.

Speaking to EsNews, he said:

“They have options (for Pacquiao). Porter, Thurman, Danny Garcia. Yeah. Mikey Garcia is a 135lbs really. Why (should Manny fight him)? I’d rather see Manny fight (Keith) Thurman, Danny Garcia or Shawn Porter.”

Porter won at the weekend in a split decision win and Thurman also recently won a relatively close fight too so either of those could seem like plausible opponents for Pacquia.

Both from a time frame standpoint and possible bouts he could win.

Danny Garcia has an opponent scheduled for April 20th however so likely he is out of the loop just slightly as regards fighting on the same schedule as Pacquiao.
