Deontay Wilder Reacts To DAZN Meeting Reports As Joshua Unification Looms

Reporter Reveals The Deontay Wilder Till This Day Meme Origin

It was widely reported following an initial tweet from reporter Mike Coppinger that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is in line to meet John Skipper of streaming service DAZN next week to discuss the possibility of fighting him to the streaming platform moving forward to have his fights shown on.

The obvious, exciting opportunity that could come from this is a totally left field opportunity once again to make the Anthony Joshua unification heavyweight fight all of a sudden.

When it looked dead in the water not long ago.

Some suggested that Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn was the main road block to making the deal with Wilder’s team and that the meeting next week with Wilder and Skipper will not involve Hearn and rather Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel and adviser Al Haymon.

Boxing politics look to be finally getting put aside now at long last as the fight that world boxing fans have demanded for over a year now looks set to be possibly get made.

Speaking to Tha Boxing Voice on the news of a possible meeting next week with DAZN, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder said:

“I’ve got a lot of good things going on actually. The last 24-48 hours have been crazy. A lot of offers. We’re still open to offers.”

He added:

“I’ve got a lot of great things going on and some announcements will be made soon.”

On if his team will change if he moves network from Showtime to DAZN, Wilder dismissed that his team would change:

“I know Al Haymon will be with me until the end of my career. My whole team will be.”

All in all, if this brings about the Joshua vs Wilder fight it is awesome — awesome news.

Fingers crossed.
