Deontay Wilder Could Throw Spanner In The Works For Breazeale vs Whyte

Dillian Whyte must be one of the most frustrated boxers in the heavyweight division at the moment.

Between failed negotiations for an Anthony Joshua title shot in April and in general chasing a title shot for well over a year now, he’s had to have the patience of a saint in some regards.

Ultimately, people will say he had the chance to fight Joshua but Whyte turned down multiple offers that he deemed were below market value for his services at the end of the day.

A fight with Dominic Breazeale now looked in play next for Whyte but Michael Benson has reported the following:

? After hearing Dominic Breazeale say he might abandon their fight if offered a shot at Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte has publicly told him: “Don’t be a bitch and don’t try to get out of the fight. It’s been ordered by the WBC, be a man and let’s do this. Stop being a bitch.”

The whole heavyweight landscape is a mess at the moment as Wilder is still negotiating with Tyson Fury for a rematch and until those talks are done the above fight between Whyte and Breazeale is still up in the air.

Wilder would only fight Breazeale next up if no Fury fight can be made and if that were to happen with Anthony Joshua now facing Jarrell Miller on June 1st in theory that scenario would leave Whyte without an opponent.

Wilder and Fury’s teams have until next Tuesday (February 26th) to reach an agreement or the WBC will then order purse bids.

It’s highly unlikely Wilder would want to vacate his belt however as it’s his main bargaining tool in these big fights.
