Anthony Joshua Makes Good Point About Canelo Since His Loss To Mayweather

Heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua is currently getting acquainted with the American market ahead of US fight debut on June 1st against Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden.

Joshua has been much more himself in the last year or so in terms of saying what’s on his mind and letting his opponents know what he thinks of them if they decide to engage in trash talk.

He’s backed up his words with his fists right the way through his professional boxing career too — to be fair.

Undefeated so far and sure, he hasn’t fought Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury yet, but he has beaten top opposition like Wladimir Klitschko, Dillian Whyte, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin already in a short space of time which some people tend to forget.

He’s now alongside Canelo Alvarez as arguably the biggest star in world boxing and he’ll be looking to grow that star in the US over the coming years.

Recently he was ringside for the Canelo Alvarez knockout of Rocky Fielding before Christmas and he made an interesting point on Canelo after seeing him live.

Speaking to members of the media in an open scrum, Joshua said:

“I rate Canelo from when he fought Mayweather how he like, he took a loss, without no rain you can’t appreciate no sun shine. So, he took a loss and he bounced back and he’s been improving ever since. So watching him live, how he set up his body shots, his feints and then watching the crowd, the Mexican crowd, the New York crowd and stuff — I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the atmosphere.”

Canelo really has come on leaps and bounds in the years gone by since losing to Floyd Mayweather in a bout he was totally shut out in a masterful boxing clinic put on by Mayweather at the time.

The sign of a great champion is how you react and bounce back from defeat however.

Canelo’s proved he’s made of championship calibre with his improvements in the years gone by since.

Canelo Alvarez next takes on Danny Jacobs on Cinco De Mayo weekend on May 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
