Errol Spence Compares Pressure Of Mikey Garcia Fight To Bout In The Past

IBF welterweight world champion Errol Spence is gearing up for a tough test next month from pound for pound rated, dynamite fighter Mikey Garcia.

An undefeated world champion in his own right.

In some ways, it could be the toughest fight of Spence’s career thus far but in other ways you could say the fight he had to win his title a few years back was even tougher.

At the time he travelled to the UK to dethrone the very strong and technically gifted champion in Kell Brook.

A boxer who had originally travelled to the US a couple of years before that to win the title from Shawn Porter at the time.

Not only did Spence travel to the UK he stopped Brook inside the distance in Brook’s own hometown of Sheffield too.

When asked in an open media scrum how he feels about the pressure of fighting Garcia next month Spence brought this up:

“It’s not pressure. It’s more motivation. I think pressure was going overseas and fighting your first title fight in front of 30,000 foreign fans.”

He added:

“Nothing really concerns me with any fighter. Like I said we work on ourselves. We work on all the chinks in our armor.”

On Garcia’s undefeated record he noted:

“He’s 39-0 but none of them were Errol Spence Jr on his record. I know he hasn’t faced a fighter like me with my skills, my ability or talent.”

He concluded:

“I’ve got pedigree. I feel like I’m meant to be here and I’m ready for this moment.”

Spence vs Garcia takes place in Arlington, Texas on March 16th next month.
