Dillian Whyte Reveals Text Anthony Joshua Sent Him To Try To Make Rematch

Dillian Whyte looks set to fight next on April 20th and it won’t be against Anthony Joshua as things stand.

Most likely it will be either against Alexander Povetkin or Dominic Breazeale as Joshua now looks set to box in the US potentially in June against Jarrell Miller.

For many months Whyte looked like the front runner for Joshua and particularly so after his most recent rematch win against Dereck Chisora.

But offers that Whyte felt did not reflect his value were subsequently turned down by him for the fight.

According to Sky via Michael Benson Whyte has said the following of Joshua personally reaching out to him recently to try to make the bout happen:

It is hard to know how much Whyte turned down for the Joshua fight on the third offer he received but it would be reasonable to assume that he won’t make anywhere near as much for a Povetkin or Breazeale fight.

That said, if he continues to win in impressive fashion long-term his value in negotiations with Joshua, Fury and Wilder will only go up.

Whyte is really backing himself and looking at the big picture it would appear.

Fair play to him standing his ground.
