Unbeaten Heavyweight Joe Joyce’s First Fight Of 2019 Announced

UK heavyweight Joe Joyce (7-0-7KO) has had his first fight formally pencilled in for the new year today and it’s exciting news.

He’ll compete on a bumper bill in the UK on ITV as part of the upcoming Chris Eubank vs James DeGale bill on February 23rd in London.

The news was confirmed a short time ago:

Former WBC heavyweight champion Stiverne is still promoted by Don King:

Here’s what current WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has to say on the fight:

All in all, a decent step up for Joyce in only his 8th pro fight.

He knows he has to get a move on with his career however as he’s already 33 and his handlers David Haye and Richard Schaefer are moving him accordingly quicker than usual that other novice professionals.

That said, Joyce comes from a tremendous amateur pedigree so has made the transition well to his credit thus far.

Nice news all in all from ITV — who continue to churn out some big bits of news in boxing so far in 2019 in all fronts.

Very impressive from the UK company so far.

Long may the good news for boxing continue as well as the new competition between all the various broadcasters and networks now interested in showing boxing again.
