Demetrius Andrade Scores 12th Round Stoppage To Defend WBO Title

WBO middleweight champion of the world Demetrius Andrade marched on in his career on Friday in New York with an impressive final round stoppage to defend his title.

Andrade closed the show with literally only twenty four seconds left in the fight against challenger Artur Akavov.

Here’s the moment it happened:

After the fight Andrade was as confident as ever and said that the jab was his key to victory in what was at times a very tactical affair.

He mentioned afterwards that he also thinks he would ‘destroy’ middleweight knockout artist Gennady Golovkin — whom has yet to sign with a new network just yet since HBO left boxing last year.

Of course, Andrade has the WBO belt that was previously owned by Billy Joe Saunders up until last year before the two were due to fight.

Former champion Saunders never lost the belt in the ring and no doubt will be gunning for a fight again with Andrade this year.
