Freddie Roach Reveals What Happened In Round 4 Of Mayweather vs Pacquiao 1 To Warrant 2019 Rematch

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fought back in May of 2015 in what was at the time billed as the fight of the century.

What enfolded was anything but to be fair.

Despite the match becoming the most lucrative boxing match in history business-wise it left an awful taste in the mouth of boxing fans to this day.

In their heart of hearts Floyd and Manny know this too.

They will inevitably do a rematch to try to set the record straight and to get rid of that bad taste once and for all.

Speaking to Hoy TV Hall of Fame trainer of Pacquiao Freddie Roach said of it:

“I think the winner of this fight (Pacquiao vs Broner) could get him in his next fight.

Nothing official yet but why did Mayweather fight that fight (exhibition bout on New Year’s Eve just gone)?

To get back in the public eye? I think so. I think he could be available next.”

He went on to say:

“I just hope it happens because I was very disappointed in the last Mayweather fight.

It does bother me because we went into the fight and Manny told me in the 4th that his shoulder was hurt.”

He added:

“At that point he was just going through the motions and so fourth.

I wish we had done surgery (before the fight) so it didn’t blow out. But it did blow out in the fourth round.”

Pacquiao must first overcome Adrien Broner on January 19th in Las Vegas to have any chance of landing the Mayweather fight later in the year.
