Leonard Ellerbe and Richard Schaefer React To DAZN and Eddie Hearn

Successful promoters Leonard Ellerbe of Mayweather Promotions and Richard Schaefer have worked together in US boxing for many years.

Recently promoter Eddie Hearn made comments about Mayweather Promotions’ fighter Gervonta Davis in that he alluded to Ellerbe and Mayweather Promotions that by stopping Davis from boxing on DAZN and would stop him from opportunities to make more money.

Ellerbe while speaking at a press conference this week to announce Davis’ next fight against Abner Mares dismissed the notion that Davis will ever fight on DAZN for a possible fight with Hearn promoted fighter Tevin Farmer.

He also criticised the numbers DAZN has done so far in boxing and questioned why they have not released their viewership numbers so far:

“Nobody is watching.”

On Hearn speaking about Davis, he added:

“Anytime you talk about my fighter, I’m going to respond.”

He went on to say:

“I get what he’s (Eddie Hearn) trying to do but You don’t come to this side of the world (the US) burning bridges, talking s*** about each and every promoter and try to get the fighters to come over there (to DAZN). You’ve got to understand the market place first and then go from there.”

He also branded DAZN as the ‘Dead Zone’ while Richard Schaefer pointed to the service capping fighter’s earning potential long term without being able to fight on TV or on pay per view as well as benefit from streaming online.
