This weekend’s WBC heavyweight title fight may have ended in an unsatisfactory draw but on the whole, what a fight and what a huge night for the sport of boxing. One former world champion summed up Tyson Fury perhaps better than anyone.

Carl Frampton is currently getting ready for his own world title shot on December 22nd against Josh Warrington but like everyone was hugely engrossed in last night’s big fight in LA.

Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury boxed superbly and showed a massive heart, almost beyond belief, to get up from a punch in the final round that probably would have knocked out a bear.

Speaking on Fury, Frampton said:

You’d have to nail @Tyson_Fury to the canvas. What a determined big man

Indeed, the resilience and heart Fury displayed was almost super human. He literally was laid out cold in the 12th round and somehow got back to his feet.

Perhaps his head hitting the canvas as hard as it did might have helped, it’s hard to tell.

It reminded me of the first Carl Froch vs George Groves fight where Groves flattened Froch so hardly that perhaps the impact of Froch hitting the canvas actually woke him back up.
