An athlete in a totally different sport to boxing has been handed a whopping 4 year ban from competition today for the exact same substance Canelo Alvarez failed a drugs test before for which he served just a six month ban.

The Mexican boxing star had his rematch with Gennady Golovkin put back to September earlier this year after testing positive for the now notorious substance known as Clenbuterol.

At the time the Nevada State Athletic Commission handed him a six month suspension after his team claimed that the substance got into his system through tainted meat in his home country of Mexico.

Canelo subsequently was allowed to box again in September and beat Gennady Golovkin for the middleweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Today however, Nigel Levine who is a UK 4×400 relay title holder was told he will not be allowed to compete until 2022 after he tested positive for the substance.

Canelo Alvarez is scheduled to face Rocky Fielding on December 15th at Madison Square Garden for the WBA ‘Regular’ super-middleweight title.
