Shawn Porter Makes Bold Claim About Pacquiao vs Broner

Welterweight world champion Shawn Porter has made some remarks about the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs Adrien Broner showdown that might raise a few eyebrows.

The fight is tentatively set for January 19th somewhere in the US pending an IRS issue Pacquiao must first settle to work in the country again.

Most people seem to view the Pacquiao vs Broner fight as a relatively 50/50 bout.

Not Shawn Porter however, a man who has sparred one and fought the other.

Speaking to EsNews he doesn’t think Broner is much of a test for Pacquiao at all as it turns out:

“Let me say this, I think we all want to see the old Manny. The old Manny is gone. I think he needs to find the new version of Manny. He needs to figure out who the new Manny is, you know. He’s not going to hit as hard as he used to. He’s not going to be as fast, as quick. It’s just a part of nature. He just needs to figure out where he is. Obviously, Adrien Broner is not going to be much of a test. It’s just more so to gauge himself of where he’s at now.”

With Pacquiao now boxing under Al Haymon and the Premier Boxing Champions umbrella, Porter could very well see himself facing either Pacquiao or Broner in the not too near future so no doubt will be keeping an eye on proceedings.
