Freddie Roach Speaks Frankly On Pacquiao’s Chances Against Spence or Crawford

Manny Pacquiao takes on Adrien Broner next up and now finds himself in a new era of welterweights coming through and breaking into the pound for pound top-tier of boxing.

It wasn’t long ago that Pacquiao himself was considered the pound for pound best in boxing but time waits for no man in boxing.

Outside of the heavyweight division, boxing has typically been a young man’s sport over the years. Particularly if you have an explosive style like Pacquiao.

If Pacquiao were to fight with the likes of Errol Spence or Terence Crawford at this stage you’d have to think he’d find it difficult.

Speaking to Blue Blood Sports TV, Freddie Roach thought so:

“Errol Spence and Crawford maybe a little too big for them. Manny only walks around at around 138lbs – he’s not that big a person. Manny’s always competitive though, but you are talking about two of the brightest young kids coming up in the world today. They’re both very good fighters and I enjoy watching them both fight because I think one of them pound for pound is the best fighter in the world today.”

Pacquiao must first get through his upcoming test with Adrien Broner mind you and after that, it looks like it will be a fight with Floyd Mayweather anyway.

I think most boxing fans would much prefer to see Errol Spence and Terence Crawford fight one another in 2019 before anything else.
