Eddie Hearn Finally Gives Ground On The Joshua vs Wilder Purse Split - Gives Split % Options

Matchroom Boxing boss and leading promoter Eddie Hearn has now conceded that he will in fact give ground on some of the Joshua vs Wilder split. But, he will do so totally based on the Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury pay per view performance in the US on December 1st. He’s gone through a number of scenarios that could happen.

Speaking in a media scrum to journalists after this past weekend’s boxing at the TD Garden in Boston Hearn said on what is a fair a percentage purse split between Joshua and Wilder:

“65/35 or 60/40 (in Joshua’s favor). I think if he (Wilder) knocks out Tyson Fury it could get good pay per view numbers. Could he get 60/40? Possibly.”

He went on to say:

“(How many PPVs he thinks Wilder vs Fury does in the US) 300, 200 (thousand)? No one knows who Deontay Wilder is. If he does a million plus (against Fury) we’ll give him 50-50 I think (for the Joshua fight). That’s probably fair enough. If he does under 300,000 he should take 80/20. If he does under 400,000 he might get 70/30. If he does over 500,000 – we’ll give him 60/40.”

A lot hinges on how well Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury does on pay per view on December 1st on Showtime it would appear.

Of course, Tyson Fury could blow these plans completely out of the water.
