Watch: Anthony Joshua Becomes The First Man To Knock Out Povetkin

Anthony Joshua set up a potential super fight next April 13th with a stunning performance tonight at Wembley stadium.

Russian challenger Alexander Povetkin got off to a quick start and showed just how dangerous he was early on.

He caused some damage to the nose of Joshua and landed a number of left hooks on the champion in the opening rounds.

Povetkin was closing the distance well in the third, boxing well and busting up Anthony Joshua’s nose with left hooks.

Like we predicted earlier on, Povektin made a quick start and showed zero fear of Joshua.

Joshua despite the heavy blood nose, started to raised his game in the mid rounds. And it paid off.

A nose injury suffered in the first round was not enough to stop Joshua from becoming the first man to stop Povetkin in his career:

Joshua really showed just how much he’s improved in his career and solidified himself as the best heavyweight in the world today.

A cracking punch. That right hand of his really is an incredibly powerful weapon.

After the fight promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned they will try to make the Deontay Wilder fight again but if it cannot be made Dillian Whyte is the front-runner.

Joshua mentioned he wants the Wilder fight as a preference.

Whyte said he is more than willing to step back in there with Joshua.
