Golovkin Promoter Trolls Canelo’s Mexican Heritage On The Day Of The Fight

Mind games are happening right the way up until the first bell later tonight it would appear as the usually quiet and reserved Tom Loeffler has landed a subtle, or not so subtle depending on how you look at it, jab on Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez.

In recent weeks Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya said in an interview that Golovkin did not want to national anthems played at the fight tonight and called into question Gennady Golovkin’s patriotism.

Well, it didn’t go down well with team Golovkin as you could imagine.

They entirely refuted the claim by De La Hoya.

But Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler has been biding his time patiently, waiting to counter with a similar remark of his own.

Here it is:

Golovkin’s boxing style is certainly similar to that of Mexican fighters in that he’s an aggressive, come forward boxer who doesn’t mind taking a shot to give one.

Canelo on the other hand while he can brawl, also utilizes his boxing skills in different bouts which Golovkin and his coach Abel Sanchez referred to as ‘running’ in their first fight.

Time will tell what game plan Canelo goes for tonight but one thing is sure, it’s going to be another fun war to watch.
